Programs The GMSVP has a feature program at each of the monthly meetings. Programs may provide information about recent field trips or be gem, mineral or fossil related. Please see below for some of the presentations that have been presented at past meetings.
The MAGMA club generously invited GMSVP to take part in searching for fossils of the Pliocene and Miocene eras on November 14th, 2014 at the Pipsico Reservation in Surry VA. Participants obtained many nice specimens of shells, especially Chesapecten Jeffersonius and Ecphora Quadristrata, in addition to tube worms, shark teeth, and even a whale bone. Below is a presentation that was given by club member Robert Mazzrillo at the January 2015 club meeting about the trip.
Below is the feature program presented at the October 2014 meeting by Dan Fontaine. Dan a club member, along with his wife Pat, had recently spent a week at Wildacres Retreat in Little Switzerland, NC. Dan's presentation includes pictures of what students created in their week long class.
